Transport Services

The Government of Alberta (GoA) is contracting for the provision of centralized freight transport services for the movement of goods between locations in Alberta. The goods transported fall into three categories: surplus government assets usually destined for the GoA’s Surplus Sales facilities in Edmonton or Calgary, government records being transported to the Records Centre or for official disposal, and other records and assets typically being transported between GoA locations.

The GoA may award up to four contracts as a result of this one RFP. Two of the planned contracts are for the transport of surplus assets within Edmonton and Calgary respectively, one is for the transport of government records and other (non-surplus) assets within Edmonton, and the fourth is for the transport of goods from one Alberta community to another. Proposals may be submitted for one or more of these contracts.

Generally the shipments are LTL (less than a full load). For cost effectiveness and efficiency, the vendor may combine most shipments with those of other customers or other vendor clients, and may utilize connecting carriers.

Shipments within Edmonton and within Calgary must be completed within 5 business days of each service request. Shipments between various Alberta locations must be completed within 10 business days.

Each contract will be for a term of four (4) years, with Service Alberta having the option to extend any contract twice for up to two (2) additional years each time.
