Eligibility of Bidders:   Qualified applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in management, business, natural resources, engineering or other relevant discipline along with at least 10 years of demonstrated executive -level experience in leading and managing substantial multi-disciplined groups with a record of sound achievement. Proven capacity to take forward-looking approach and to play a catalytic role in organizational development and management of change, and capacity to work sensitively within a multicultural team is also required. Senior experience in a multi-government environment and high level experience in natural resource management, including a good understanding and working knowledge of contemporary river basin management issues coupled with integrated water resources management and associated socio-economic development is highly desired. Excellent written and spoken English and fluency with modern technology and management techniques is desired. Experience in river basin management and planning - Nile basin Experience would be highly regarded. Good capacity and relevant experience in dealing with international donors and French languages skills are also desired

Planning and Management Position

The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), a regional partnership of countries of the Nile, seeks to achieve sustainable socio-economic development, build a solid foundation of trust and confidence, and fight poverty through the cooperative development and management of Nile Basin water resources. This unique Initiative offers exciting and challenging opportunities to work in a complex, multi-country environment to promote long-term economic integration, peace and prosperity in the region. Within this framework, the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) seeks to hire The Head, Strategic Planning and Management within the Nile SEC.

Nature of Appointment: The NBI seeks a candidate who will bring the visionary, strategic leadership, high-level management experience, and diplomatic skills necessary to lead the water policy and water resource management functions of the NBI. The successful candidate will guide the participatory, sustainable development of the Nile Basin through provision of strategic analysis and strategic planning services, participatory policy formulation, sound planning for sustainable and equitable development of water and related natural resources, as well as rigorous management of Nile Basin Initiative programs.

This is a Regional Position for three years, with contract renewed annually, subject to satisfactory performance and an initial 6 months probation period.

NBI offers a competitive salary package commensurate with the qualifications and relevant experience. Priority will be given to nationals originally from the Nile Basin countries, and Women candidates are encouraged to apply.
